How Physical Activity Impacts Health

Regular physical activity that is performed on most days of the week reduces the risk of developing or dying from some of the leading causes of illness and death in the United States.

  • Reduces the risk of dying prematurely.
  • Reduces the risk of dying prematurely from heart disease.
  • Reduces the risk of developing diabetes.
  • Reduces the risk of developing high blood pressure.
  • Helps reduce blood pressure in people who already have high blood pressure.
  • Reduces the risk of developing colon cancer.
  • Reduces feelings of depression and anxiety.
  • Helps control weight.
  • Helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
  • Helps older adults become stronger and better mobility without falling.
  • Promotes psychological well-being.

Specific Health Benefits of Exercise

exercise is as beneficial or more than drugs, Dr. Rodger MurphreeHeart Disease and Stroke. Daily physical activity can help prevent heart disease and stroke by strengthening your heart muscle, lowering your blood pressure, raising your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels (good cholesterol) and lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels (bad cholesterol), improving blood flow, and increasing your heart’s working capacity.

High Blood Pressure. Regular physical activity can reduce blood pressure in those with high blood pressure levels. Physical activity also reduces body fatness, which is associated with high blood pressure.

Noninsulin-Dependent Diabetes. By reducing body fatness, physical activity can help to prevent and control this type of diabetes.

Obesity. Physical activity helps to reduce body fat by building or preserving muscle mass and improving the body’s ability to use calories. When physical activity is combined with proper nutrition, it can help control weight and prevent obesity, a major risk factor for many diseases.

Back Pain. By increasing muscle strength and endurance and improving flexibility and posture, regular exercise helps to prevent back pain.

Osteoporosis. Regular weight-bearing exercise promotes bone formation and may prevent many forms of bone loss associated with aging.

Psychological Effects. Regular physical activity can improve your mood and the way you feel about yourself. Researchers also have found that exercise is likely to reduce depression and anxiety and help you to better manage stress.

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Post Dangerous Risks

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including Aspirin, Excedrin, Celebrex, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Mobic, Naprosyn, Naproxen, and Aleve, can be helpful, especially when used for inflammation that comes from traumatic injuries (sprains, strains, accidents, etc.). However, long-term use of these medications can cause a host of unwanted side effects, and NSAIDs don’t actually correct the cause of pain.

In fact, they can accelerate joint destruction and cause intestinal permeability, which leads to more inflammation. A person taking NSAIDs is seven times more likely to be hospitalized for gastrointestinal adverse effects. The FDA estimates that 200,000 cases of gastric bleeding occur annually from taking NSAIDS and that this leads to 10,000 to 20,000 deaths each year.

NSAIDs more than double a person’s risk of developing high blood pressure, possibly leading to more medication. In one study, 41% of those who had recently started on medication to lower their blood pressure were also taking an NSAID.

Here’s are two natural remedies for arthritis pain –

Essential Therapeutics Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM Formula

Glucosamine sulfate is an excellent approach to eliminating the destruction of osteoarthritis.

Glucosamine, which is made up of glucose and the amino acid glutamine, actually helps repair damaged articular joint tissue. It does this by stimulating collagen cells within the articular cartilage to produce more proteoglycans. Proteoglycans are responsible for forming a protective netting within the articular cartilage, which helps prevent its destruction.

A growing body of research supports the use of this natural supplement. Studies in Italy showed that glucosamine reduced arthritis symptoms by one half in 73% of the group, and 20% enjoyed total symptom relief. A study of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee, performed at the National Orthopedic Hospital in Manila, Philippines, showed that patients who were administered glucosamine had an 80% reduction in pain.

More importantly, glucosamine and chondroiten sulfate (see below) which actually slow or arrest the destruction of cartilage, have no side effects and are totally safe.

Chondroiten sulfate is composed of a large number of sugar molecules. It attracts fluid into the proteoglygan molecules, and this fluid acts as a shock absorber. Chondroiten inhibits certain enzymes that can damage cartilage, while stimulating the production of proteoglycans and other molecules needed for healthy new cartilage growth.

A study conducted in France, showed patients who received three months of chondroiten therapy had actually repaired a significant portion of their degenerated joint tissues.

CBD is another option for joint, muscle, and nerve pain.

Over the past 20 years, research has been accumulating to show that CBD oil from hemp plants can have a positive, sometimes dramatic affect on many unwanted health conditions including arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, diabetes, alcoholism, MS, PTSD, depression, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and an assortment of neurological disorders.

Cannabidiol or CBD is the main substance in CBD oil. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which you’ll find in medical marijuana, CBD does not have psychoactive effects.

CBD oil will not make you feel high, spacey, weird, or dopey.

For all the many reasons people use CBD, pain relief is number one. Given today’s opiate crisis, CBD is especially a welcomed alternative therapy for chronic pain. Prescriptions for opiates have increased 400% percent over the last decade. Each day over one hundred Americans die from prescription narcotics.

survey of 2,400 chronic pain patients found that 80% of respondents reported CBD was very effective for relieving their pain. And 80% percent reported CBD was more effective than their prescription medications. 42% percent were able to replace their pain medications with CBD alone. Studies show cannabinoids can reduce the amount of opioids needed, thus reducing potentially build up, tolerance and potential side effects. At least ten different studies have shown CBD to be helpful for neuropathic or nerve pain.
